How to Detoxify the Liver with Herbs

A few days ago, a friend phoned me for help on how to cleanse her liver. She no longer has her gallbladder, and she fears that because she eats everything she likes — in my opinion too much — she might get liver disease and go into a downward spiral regarding her health.

Although I had already written a story recommending herbs to take care of the gallbladder and liver, I thought I should do more research, since when I recommend herbs, I start from the assumption a person does not yet have a serious organ condition and can fix an ailment with plants.

I have been researching, and this is what I have found out.

The liver is extremely important in our organism because vital metabolic processes take place in it. This large organ is a laboratory, and if it is very sick or does not work our body dies. Its lack of activity is incompatible with life. It is one of the key organs for health, since it is not only responsible for purifying the blood to eliminate toxins, but it also participates in the digestion of fats, metabolism, and the secretion of some hormones.

In fact, it is critical for protein synthesis and the storage of essential vitamins. In addition, it produces cholesterol and is determinant for the work of the immune system. Therefore, it is…
