Hi, Byron!
I liked this poem. I know you are quite distraught for your "friends" of all your life, but many people evolve and other don't. It has always been like this. It is wonderful you are not a nationalist, an islander, a bigot, a racist, etc... But if some others want to be so, let them be and say goodbye. If I were English, living in England, I suppose I will be in the same situation with people of my age.
You wrote a word I couldn't find in any dictionary --or maybe, not very clearly to me.
The noun "Woke" means "being (woke) or socially conscious is a good thing because it helps bring awareness to problems faced by minority groups in our country". So, it is a good thing to be "woke", but it seems you complain about it.
What does this word mean in your poem according to you? Please.
Thank you. ALL the BEST. Louisa
