I loved this story although I needed to look for the expression "to tug on the forelock". It was not easy, but eventually, I found "to show respect for somebody of more position". Unfortunately, I can't "feel" its meaning. Do you have a better explanation?

Well, the important thing is that it is a wonderful and vivid story I really enjoyed. I would like to craft my stories as you do yours, but . . . obviously ,you are British, and there lies the difference.
